The Peppy Bollywood Queen

Most of the Bollywood actors have launched their children in movies making this almost a regular trend. Sonam Kapoor, daughter of Anil Kapoor, the celebrated hero, also joined the bandwagon with her debut film Saawariya in 2007. Though she assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali behind the camera with his film Black in 2005, but she decided to choose to face the camera as her career with the film Saawariya.

Saawariya was not a big hit but Sonam personally was able to create a storm. She also earned a nomination for the Filmfare best debut female Award for this film. What made her presence prominent for the very first film was her peppy, lively attitude and a distinct sense of fashion.

To be a popular fashion diva is not everyone’s cup of tea. While most of our Bollywood actresses are beautiful and delicate creatures, but a very few of them has a perfect fashion sense, a fashionista so to say. From the very beginning of her career, Sonam Kapoor exudes an energy that is likely to be infectious. I mean, her attitude, the way she speaks about her life and career even, in reality, produces an instant charm for the audience. There is no dearth of attractive faces on the silver screen, but in most of tem we miss this easygoing, peppy chirpiness. And, this is what has made her unique and has helped her to earn a huge popularity among the youth.

Though Sonam was hugely successful in making a devoted fanbase, her films were not doing good in the box-office. Her first decent success came in I Hate Love Storys and then there was no looking back for her. Her looks in every film, be it an emotional, romantic drama like Raanjhanaa, the hunky-dory romantic comedy Khoobsurat, the fast-paced comedy drama Dolly Ki Doli or the melodramatic Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, has attracted every eye. Sonam has not only the courage to adorn casual, normal, or ethnic outfits in an uncommon way, but she carries them with ease and grace also. Her spontaneity and positive approach have made her what she is today, an avid leader in the fashion industry, the avant-garde.

While Sonam has been praised most of the times for her off-bit dressing sense and peppy style, she has often been criticized also for the same reason. But keeping her cool, she continues with her own style and, now, media has recognized her as the style icon of the film industry. Earning this style was not an easy thing for her, but she did it, with her own peppy style.

Sonam Kapoor’s latest film, the most awaited release of the year 2016, Neerja, has recently released a song ‘Jeete Hai Chal’. The song has been picturised showcasing a positive vibe and optimism. The song perhaps portrays the real self of Sonam along with the character she is playing in the film. We wish the peppy diva a great success. Do watch the song and you can feel the vibe, too.

My Choicest Peppy Female Characters

Films leave deep impacts on our life. Whether we want or not, knowingly or unknowingly, the characters of the celluloid make us happy or sad with them and their way of living. The sudden turn of incidents of their life often makes us cry silently or laugh aloud. Their story mingles with our thought processes and, often leaves indelible marks. It is not astonishing that the female characters, in general, are able to create the deepest impact and in my case, the lively peppy female pivotal characters are the most favorite ones. I’m a sort of introvert person and perhaps, that is the reason I get easily affected by the spontaneity and energetic nature of the heroines. I love the easy fun and frolic they carry with them. Here are the five most peppy female characters of my choice from Bollywood. It goes without saying they are not at all perfect, have their idiosyncracies as well. But still I’m happy to see that Bollywood has started embracing female protagonists with flaws, making them similar to  real life.

So, here goes my list.

Kareena Kapoor as Geet in the film Jab We Met. She is a girl who often makes a mess and behaves like an impractical dreamer. But the positivity of her character attracts me. She is courageous enough to accept her mistakes and bear the consequences as they come. She can face the world by herself if the situation demands.

Konkona Sen Sharma as Ayesha in Wake Up Sid. The indomitable spirit and vivacity of the character are the main attractions. She wants to be an esteemed writer on her own abilities. She has high self-esteem and she knows how to make her own place in this world. The maturity of Ayesha is highly inspiring to me. I love this character who knows how to maintain a balanced life.

Parineeti Chopra as Meeta in Hasee Toh Phasee. She has so many loopholes in her character, but still she manages to become a winner in life with her vivacity. She can find opportunities even in the most adverse situation and, knows how to make the most of everything. The optimism in her makes her an unforgettable character.

Anushka Sharma as Akira in Jab Tak Hai Jaan. She is an easy-going high-spirited girl with ambitions. She is bold enough even to accept harsh truths. She honors friendship and knows to hold back her emotions when required.

Last but not the least, Kangna Ranawat as Rani in Queen. The positivity I find in this character is highly inspiring. Even after her fiance cancels the marriage, she decides to go on with the plan of her honeymoon, alone. The amazing confidence she reveals in the process along with a great attitude have taken this character to another level, a woman of substance.

Apart from these five, there are many more unforgettable characters in the history of Bollywood. But, to me, they are the most wonderful ones.
